São Paulo, Brazil - February 18, 2009 - At the age of 18, Patricia Fernandes from São Paulo was the great winner of the first edition of MOTOROKR STAR, a contest held by Motorola to find the next talent in Brazilian music. The student stood out among the ten finalists of the contest, who had the works analyzed by the singer and music producer Wyclef Jean. As an award, Patrícia won a trip to record a single in New York (USA). She will be accompanied by the pop muse Fergie and Wyclef himself in the production of the track, written by the music producer exclusively for the winner of the contest.

In its first edition, MOTOROKR Star had the participation of Internet users from all over the country. To compete for the award, Patrícia recorded her own version of the song Alone, by the band Heart, and uploaded the material to the contest's website. The winner, who enchanted the Haitian producer for his tuning and naturalness, embarks in the coming weeks to the United States to enter the studio for the first time. In addition, the student will sign a one-year contract with a record company. "I'm very happy with this chance, which promises to be the opportunity of my life," says Patrícia, pop and MPB fan. "Music is a means of expression, and I thank Motorola for making my dream come true*, concludes the young artist.

In 2008 alone, five devices were released with features specific to this sector, bringing the total number of music phones in their portfolio to 12. Additionally, the company invests in its own festival, Motomix, which, in its sixth edition last year, attracted more than 10,000 people to Ibirapuera Park in São Paulo.
